Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I am a trainee Risk Consultant at RSA over the last 18 months I have been completing a lot of studying directed by the company through a module programme called Multi-discipline Risk Control training manual. Now i have completed the modules my focus is around developing my technical expertise further as well as completing site surveys on behalf of RSA. Other tasks include day to day under writer referrals and account management.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
My apprenticeship programme enables me to complete my CII qualifications which is industry recognised. I am very happy RSA are willing to support me in reaching this goal. However the apprenticeship programme itself offers very little benefit to me I have to complete coursework that doesn't go towards my CII and for a qualification that isn't recognised in the industry. I believe the apprenticeship coursework side is a real waste of time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
As i have already indicated my job role over the last 12 months has solely been focused around my own development. Risk control technical development for property and liability risks. I have completed the Multi-discipline internal modules as well as NEBOSH general certificate which i await the results. My technical capability is coming along I now need to be come self sufficient at completing a survey.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
My CII coursework is self driven and I do not request much support from the training provider.
The training providers main interest is that I completed the apprenticeship coursework which I feel offers very little benefit to me and as previously stated is not recognised by the insurance industry. If the apprenticeship solely focused on the CII qualifications I would be much happier and the conversations with my training provider would be much more valuable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is excellent at support my development. My leader promotes me to use my work time to focus on my development. RSA have also funded additional qualifications to aid my development which is brilliant. I have an assigned mentor within my department and I have the option to have a career mentor in the business. RSA could do no more for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I request and recieve very little support from my training provider towards my CII qualifications. There main interest is for me to complete the apprenticeship knowledge, skills, and behaviours coursework which I see very little benefit from. If this part of the apprenticeship did not exist I believe they would be able to offer a much greater level of support to the apprentices towards the qualification they actually aspire to complete.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The CII qualification provides you a much greater understand of the insurance industry which is very helpful for me as I take up higher roles in the industry.
The apprenticeship knowledge skills and behaviours qualification offer no benefit for me to perform better in my role. It is just assessment/ proof of work I have already done.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
RSA pride themselves on offering such activities.
