Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In a typical week, I'm spending 2 days a week in lectures or studying for my degree. The other three I'm immersed into the heart of dysons RDD division. For the first 2 years I was on rotation through different teams, having now chosen to settle in a software team for the final 2 years of the course. I'm given high levels of responsibility but feel incredibly supported
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Thoroughly, it's hard work but very rewarding

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Too many to list, I've developed across mechanical, electronic and software engineering gaining both technical and interpersonal skills, and that's not even including what's learnt through the degree side.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
At times things are last minute, especially when relating to Warwick's provision of the course, but on the whole it's pretty good. Staff/student dialogue from the Dyson Institute team is extremely good compared to a typical university for example
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I'm supported by my line manager, my Institute student support adviser and the institute team as a whole. My work team are also incredibly supportive
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Degree support is good from warwick mostly with some caveats, some modules are run better than others. However improvement has been seen over time, the feedback process is good. Level 6 apprenticeship support has been historically poor, but again seems to be improving. I caveat all this with the fact any future joiners will have their training provided by Dyson, so this will likely improve
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Modules tend to support the workplace on the whole
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Some, Dyson has some company wide clubs. The institute itself also has many small clubs and puts on events regularly using the student experience budget. The annual ski trip is also a real highlight
