Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I look at the BIM aspects of a project, including Federation, Model compliance, coordination and information management.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am enjoying my apprenticeship very much learning new skills and gaining new experiences.
I would like to consider doing the higher apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills from soft skills like communication and document righting to more job-specific like how to use BIM tools and process.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The organisation of my apprenticeship has not been very good. This is due to communication has been very slack between all party. An example this should be a 2.5/3 year apprenticeship instead of the stated 2 years we are contracted for.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received a lot of support and guidance from my line manager. This has significantly helped me develop through my apprenticeship.
In addition to this, my mentor has been very supported and given me a lot of help and guidance.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The support from my tutor is ok. On our 2-week block releases it is very good, however when we go back to our business it is very hard to get guidance and help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Overall I believe this course is a very generic for the construction industry. To this extent, I do believe some of my units/ training has helped my development and learning in my day to day job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There has been a very small amount of social event in my company, these have normally only happened with my cohort when we are on our 2-week block release.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Kier Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I really enjoy working for them and their moral values.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kier Group?
The assessment days/ interview is a very exciting but hard process, It was the hardest interview I have ever done.
In addition, I would make sure you ask as many questions about the role as you possibly can.
