Work experience Review

Spent the first week in the development team where I attended site visits and considered comparable developments.
In the second week I worked within the valuation team and aided in the writing of a valuation report including the due diligence and the construction of a local market overview.

It was extremely insightful to be in the office and surrounded by fee earners and graduates from the business. They were all more than happy to provide advice and answer any of my questions related to their roles within the company. It was helpful to speak to the graduates and understand the structure of the graduate scheme and the support they receive from their teams during the process.

I have learnt the elements to consider when dealing with a development site including whether there are any environmental factors or planning restrictions that may impact the development.
In valuation I learnt to carry out due diligence in a valuation report and begin to identity factors that can be used in a local market review. I came away with a far better understanding of how the comparable method of valuation works.

Although the office was not at full capacity I was still able to get a feel for the atmosphere. I found it to be a supportive culture where departments help one another if they can. I found everyone in the office to be friendly and more than willing to provide advice. The graduates were all welcoming and seemed to have had a positive experience working within the company so far.

I enjoyed the insight to a great extent as it was my intention to gain experience from it in order to confirm that I sought a career in property. I was given a suitable amount of work and exposed to various aspects of the business which meant I gained a better understanding of the work savills carries out.
