Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

- Attending scheduled insight sessions with different departments
- Completing assessed projects
- Using internal know-how resources to learn about the technicalities of your practice area
- Completing tasks set by your seat principal
- Arranging coffee chats
- Attending socials and getting to know (i) the Linklaters team and (ii) other vacation scheme students

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It is much easier to gain a rare insight into the genuine reality of the work and team environment from within the business; in this sense the vacation scheme was very immersive. People at the firm (both the lawyers and training and development support team) are welcoming, generous with their time, and always willing to speak about the variety of opportunities available and how they have impacted their careers. It was enjoyable to know the options given to people at the firm.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

People are very generous with their time and willing to have a coffee chat or help explain things to you. Very non-hierarchical and welcoming, at all levels including the most senior lawyers.
