The role involves organising team meetings and allocating daily tasks in accordance with the project plan as well as checking in with the team. Also, it is usual to organise and participate in meetings with people from various parts of the business so as to gain an overall insight into the Centrica strategy.

You are not given much direct responsibility throughout your placement, as you are only accountable for the project and do not have impact on day-to-day company activities. However, you are responsible for arranging your own meetings and approaching people in the company who will help you develop the project.

I have further developed my marketing knowledge through learning how to implement marketing techniques in the business environment. I have also developed both my communication skills by meeting with various people and public speaking abilities by presenting to multiple audiences. Moreover, I have further honed my team-working and planning abilities while collaborating with the team on the project plan.

Centrica provides extensive guidance and support during the internship, as you become acquainted with their diversity initiatives and are able to join multiple groups in accordance with your interests. Also, you have immediate well-being support and immediate work-related support networks who are extremely responsive.

The company is really inclusive and open to all, it supports diversity through its networks and interest-based groups. Also, people are open to talk and especially supportive for both work matters and well-being matters.

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, I've had great exposure to the energy sector and people in the company. I liked the fact that it is self-directed and you are free to organise meetings with whoever you want and gain insight into all sides of the business. The project process was enjoyable, teams are diverse and I liked that I got to meet a lot of people from all walks of life.
