Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The role involves turning up to your work place and continuing work on whatever project you are working on. This could include having meetings with your line manager or team to discuss the project, review code or plan out the next few weeks of work. You may be working on stuff by yourself for long periods but will always have someone in the office or remotely available to ask for help if you are stuck.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was responsible for the project I was working on and delivering it according to the set deadlines.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I have learned how to manage large codebases in C++ and operate linux based environments. I have learned many new aerospace concepts and also soft skills regarding working in a team and communicating.

My manager and team were always available to help. Sometimes they were not available in person but were always contactable remotely if not in person.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Our team all have lunch together every day and also have socials every month or so. Other than that the general atmosphere is very corporate, the office is quiet like a library and clean and safe.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I very much enjoyed the work of the placement. I have also found the placement has helped me significantly in deciding what I want out of my career in software engineering and the type of teams I want to work with.
