Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Working on static stress, fatigue and damage tolerance, and FEM/A analysis in Brougton with the Plant Engineering Team and A400M team. The work is primarily looking at supporting the build of the wings that are produced in Broughton (A320/21, A330 & A350). We may also get the opportunity to work on R&T projects for future aircraft programmes.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. I have done work on critical topics with deadlines that would impact the rate of production if not completed on time, I have also been given the responsibility in heading a long-term research project with significant implication to the company.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Whilst the support and guidance is always there if you need it; beyond having to be taught the basics in company software and ways of work, the general philosophy is that we have to approach problems/tasks/projects in our own way. This can be good for personal development, but could result in feeling 'left in the dark' on the wider context of the work that you are doing.
