Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Day to day I would perform batches at lab/pilot plant scale and perform data analysis to successfully scale up processes to the factory scale driving business value. I would mainly interact with my manager and other process engineers in the same department as well as other functions such as formulation and supply chain. I would occasionally interact with suppliers about materials that we use. I am responsible for several studies in projects to ensure processes are feasible at large scale in factory.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
There have been high priority projects that my work will have direct implications to scale up to factory and route to market. Work I have done with data analysis of laundry appraisals have had almost an instant impact where there are significant savings in cost and water usage.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
Be friendly and forthcoming, the work is so varied that they are more looking towards how you think versus hyper specific topics you would learn at university. It is more about the application of core concepts and understanding how to use these in a real world setting.
