Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Creative Development & Asset Management: I support the creation of key marketing materials such as Key Visuals (KVs), TV commercials (TVCs), and digital assets. This involves briefing creative agencies, providing feedback, and ensuring that the final outputs align with brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
Market Coordination: I liaise with five key markets to ensure that global assets are effectively localized. This includes checking that translations are accurate, cultural nuances are respected, and the messaging resonates with local consumers.
Budget & Financial Processes: I use internal systems to manage budgets, raise purchase orders, and complete goods receipt (GR) processes in line with financial deadlines. This ensures that all marketing activities are tracked and accounted for accurately.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a significant level of responsibility throughout my placement, which has been both empowering and instrumental to my development. One of my key responsibilities was managing the budgets for my smaller team. This involved using internal systems to forecast spend, raise purchase orders, and ensure goods receipts were completed on time—tasks that required accuracy, attention to detail, and an understanding of financial processes.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
During my placement, I’ve had the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge I gained at university in a real-world setting, which has significantly deepened my understanding of marketing practices. While university provided a strong foundation, working in a fast-paced global team has taught me many practical skills that academic learning alone couldn’t offer.
One of the key areas of growth has been teamwork. Being part of a collaborative environment where I support both internal stakeholders and external agencies has helped me develop strong interpersonal and communication skills. I’ve learned how to contribute effectively to a team, adapt to different working styles, and support others to achieve shared goals.
I’ve also developed resilience. Entering a role that was entirely new to me required a steep learning curve. I had to quickly adapt to unfamiliar systems, processes, and expectations. This experience has strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and remain solution-focused when challenges arise.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a great deal of support and guidance throughout my placement, which made a huge difference in my learning and overall experience. My line manager was incredibly approachable and always made time to answer questions, provide feedback, and help me understand the broader context of the work I was doing.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was incredibly supportive, inclusive, and encouraging, which made a huge difference in my overall experience. From day one, I felt welcomed and valued as part of the team. There was a strong emphasis on collaboration, open communication, and continuous learning.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement—it was an incredibly valuable and rewarding experience. Not only did I get to work on exciting global projects, but I also learned so much that university alone could never have taught me. Being immersed in a real business environment gave me practical insights into how marketing operates on a global scale, and helped me develop both professionally and personally.

Take every opportunity you can—whether that’s getting involved in projects, asking questions, or stepping outside your comfort zone. There’s so much to learn, and the more you put yourself out there, the more you’ll gain from the experience.
