Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Day to day tasking involved mechanical systems analyse, modelling, assessment, and design optimisation. Continual communication with the team to enhance the best design solution. Answering emails and attending meeting involving project tasks.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Took on responsibility for improving ways of working and production/implementation of optimised way of working and process for engineering modelling work. Responsibility came to me for the training of 3D modelling skills for members of the team.

Developed CAD skills, and enhanced communication, team working and processes of design engineering. Learnt the standards and production of quality engineering drawings.

Lots of support and guidance was provided throughout, with easy opportunities to gain and develop new/existing skills. There was always the chance to ask questions and no expectation to know answers immediately.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Work-life balance was ensured and comfort/happiness at work was maintained throughout. Company culture sought to improve efficiency whilst maintaining safety and the highest quality which was beneficial to witness and aided with mindset of all working for the company.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement being a value added member of a high quality team delivering real engineering solutions. I enjoyed gaining experience from the other members of my team, and being involved with innovative engineering project designing products for the future.
