Software Engineer Review

In my role, I work as part of a project team where I contribute to the development and delivery of key tasks. On a day-to-day basis, my work involves participating in daily stand-up meetings, where the team discusses progress, plans for the day, and any challenges we’re facing. These standups help keep everyone aligned and ensure smooth collaboration.
I work on assigned tickets or tasks, which could involve coding, testing, troubleshooting, or other project-related activities. Each ticket represents a specific piece of work that contributes to the overall goals of the project. Through this process, I get to apply my technical knowledge and problem-solving skills in a practical environment.

I was given a meaningful level of responsibility during my placement. I was trusted to work independently on assigned project tickets, which involved handling specific tasks that contributed directly to the overall project goals. This responsibility encouraged me to manage my time effectively, problem-solve, and ensure the quality of my work.
At the same time, I always had support from the team when I needed guidance, which made the experience both challenging and manageable. Being given this responsibility helped me build confidence in my abilities and prepared me for future professional roles.

I have definitely developed both new skills and strengthened my existing ones during my placement. Specifically, I was able to improve my Linux skills by working on project tickets that required me to navigate and use Linux environments effectively. At the same time, I enhanced my Python programming abilities by applying them directly to an investigation I completed, which gave me practical experience beyond just theoretical knowledge.
In addition to technical skills, my communication and teamwork skills also developed significantly. Participating in daily stand-up meetings provided me with regular opportunities to communicate clearly and collaborate with team members, which improved my ability to work effectively in a team setting. These interactions helped me build confidence in sharing updates, discussing challenges, and contributing to group problem-solving.
