Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role involves many aspects including: managing hazards logs, reviewing new hazards for products being installed onto a vessel and surveying ships. This involves interacting with many people at all levels within BAE Systems as well as the customer.

Yes I have been trusted with delivering items of work for specific deadlines

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Many of the skills I have developed involving my role are understanding risk management and the acceptable level of risk for hazards on ships. Throughout my placement I have also developed softer skills including chairing meeting and presenting to all levels within the organisation.

I was quickly welcomed into my team but also others around the office. Throughout my placement many colleagues have offered career and university advice which they have picked up from their route.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture is primarily focused on doing the job in the right way whilst doing it safely. It is clear to see everyone is passionate about this at BAE Systems.
