Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Virtual scheme conducted through video conferencing platform. The scheme involved catch-up sessions with HR, introductory talks from a range of the firm’s core practice areas, an assessment centre, and both individual and group tasks in different practice areas to complete throughout the week. There were also two socials, one being a virtual escape room and the other being biscuit-decorating (packages were sent to your address ahead of the event).
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Incredibly insightful and informative to be able to listen to and learn from talks given by such a wide range of practice areas within the firm, and was a good insight into the practicalities and everyday working lives within the legal industry. Definitely helped further my own personal and career development.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Learnt a lot about the different practice areas of the firm, and the nature of the work they do. Learnt how to approach a legal research task and developed better presentation skills. Also developed better analytical and communication skills, and increased my interest in the specific areas of law I want to practice in. All in all a truly memorable and invaluable experience!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Friendly and collaborative culture. All the people I spoke to were genuine, nice and approachable, from trainees to partners. A warm, welcoming culture with a good work ethic and track record of high-quality legal work.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
A really memorable experience. The remoteness and virtual aspect of the scheme almost didn’t factor into anything at all because of how friendly everyone was and how willing to help they were. Enjoyed all aspects of the scheme.
