Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I completed work experience to learn about commercial law as well as the routes into law. I took part in a CV workshop, networked with apprentices and trainees and asked them about their day to day work. I shadowed an apprentice in employment law which was really interesting and did a HSBC investment task in groups.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was interesting to learn what a partnership law firm is and how everyone is really invested in it and wants it to do well. I also learned that there’s not just lawyers in a law firm but also many other behind the scenes roles that actually make the business run smoothly

This experience allowed me to build my confidence by talking to new people and also by presenting my ideas to trainees and partners in the final task. I’ve also developed my teamwork skills and SH allowed me to realise how important teamwork is in law

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone at Stephenson Harwood was so welcoming and friendly and professional and this really made the experience enjoyable. It’s definitely a place that I would like to work at in the future

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I fully enjoyed the insight. The friendliness of the firm made the experience enjoyable and despite only being on work experience I still felt important and a part of the firm.
