Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involves acting as a 'doer' within the Actuarial and Consulting team. This means I act as the driving force behind tasks, such as accounting, valuations, funding updates and member calculations. I liaise with more senior members of the team as to what the task requires, before carrying out the project, which may involve drafting reports, populating spreadsheets or performing manual calculations.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a level of responsibility which allowed me to feel a valued member of the team and that I played my part effectively, but which was also appropriate to my level of experience. I have been grateful of the opportunity to work on client projects directly, and to be given similar responsibility to graduates, which has maximised my development during this year

I have learnt numerous skills, including but not limited to:
- Adapting to the office environment and the hours of work

I received excellent support and guidance, both through work and personally, and always felt on every project that I had someone to turn to for help or assistance. I felt as though the team wanted me to progress and succeed, for which I am grateful

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Excellent. I have been very happy during my time at Isio. There is a wonderful social and inclusive culture that is felt upon entering and working in the office. I have participated in each office social event and have found these to be beneficial in getting to know others. I&B initiatives and inclusive people policies has made me feel as though I belong in this company

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed this year and know that I will be saddened at the prospect of leaving this role. I would easily say this has been the best year of my course, and it is the people at Isio that have made this experience what it has been, as well as the wide variety of work afforded to me

That it is a wonderful place to work and that, no matter their personality or interests, they will be made to feel very welcome and included. Additionally, a role at Isio provides an excellent opportunity to get exposed to many aspects of work.
