Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We had numerous talks and Q&A sessions from different departments and management levels from the organisation. This was followed each afternoon with a 2 hour session for preparation for our group presentation to board members at the end of the insight programme. We were given opportunities to ask insightful questions to members of all levels of the organisation. We were shown in talks about the work culture and life of a Savills graduate and how they would support us through our APC.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The information given to me during the insight week has helped me massively understand the full scope of surveying and the roles available. I went into the week with a fairly narrow mind about the roles I was interested in pursuing, however after listening to the talks from each department and talking to people in the roles I now have a much more open mind about the roles in which I would be interesting in applying for.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The insight programme has helped prepare me and give me great insight into the application process and life of a Savills graduate employee. The week has also greatly tested and improved team based skills through the group project, in a large group of 10 we had to decide on a topic break that topic down and then create a 10 minute presentation on the matter. This tested our ability to work as a team and put us in the position of a graduate.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
They told us numerous times about how good the culture is within Savills and I think that really came across as true during the insight week. The team involved in the insight week were incredibly kind and helpful, and it seemed like all the speakers actually wanted to be there and to help incoming graduates. Which I think speaks volumes about what the culture there is like and how it would be to work there.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I had a fantastic time at the insight, it was a great overview of the company and has spurred Savills to be my top employer choice going through university, I will most definitely be applying to Savills year in industry and graduate scheme when I get to that stage.

The main thing everyone on the insight week stressed to us is the value of experience, it seems quite pivotal to achieving a role at Savills and having a successful career.
