Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Some of my supply chain responsibilities include presenting weekly on slow-moving-stock within the mobile side of the business. Business partnering with my colleagues in supply chain, commercial finance and commercial teams. Highlighting devices we may need to target for potential promotions or clearances. I also help on the field operations side during our month-end process calculating the overtime accrual, service truck calculations for our management accountants.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
During my internship, I was given responsibility from the start, and as I demonstrated my capabilities, I was entrusted with more challenging tasks. Over time, the scope of my responsibilities grew, allowing me to develop both my skills and confidence in handling more tasks.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have significantly developed my presentation skills through delivering through my weekly presentations. Being adaptable to peoples questions. Another skill I have improved is my attention to detail. I’ve developed the ability to create and use check sheets effectively, which has helped catch potential mistakes early in the process and ensure a higher level of accuracy in my work.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
As an intern, we are fortunate to have a strong support system in place, which includes our manager, head of year, and mentor. Additionally, the Future Careers team played a vital role in helping us get accustomed during the first few months, offering training on Microsoft systems and Excel-based courses. What really stood out, though, was the teams I worked with. They were incredibly encouraging and gave me the freedom to take on challenges at my own pace, which really boosted my confidence and growth.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
During my internship at Virgin Media O2, I was welcomed into a supportive and inclusive environment. The company fosters a culture of openness and collaboration, where everyone's contributions are valued. The modern office spaces are designed to facilitate both focused work and spontaneous interactions, promoting a sense of community among colleagues. Regular social events and team activities further strengthened our connections, creating a welcoming environment that made me feel like an integral part of the team.

What advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2
My biggest tip is to ask as many questions as you can as there's no such thing as a bad question. It shows you're engaged and eager to learn. Also, make the most of the networking opportunities. Building connections with colleagues, mentors, and other interns can open doors and provide valuable insights into your career path.
