Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Throughout the scheme, we had the opportunity to contribute to real client work, participate in coffee chats with everyone from trainees to partners, and attend “lunch-and-learn” sessions that bring professionals together to explore key aspects of the firm. These experiences highlight Dentons' collaborative and approachable ethos. With frequent opportunities to network, by the end of the two weeks, we had engaged with colleagues at all levels, contributed to real client deliverables, and developed a clear understanding of Dentons’ open-door culture, commitment to training, and the high calibre of work.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The opportunity to interact with professionals from different teams gave a clear understanding of the career paths available and the potential for growth. This experience has helped me understand the breadth of possibilities within the firm.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
During the vacation scheme, I developed key skills including attention to detail, communicating work load, networking and organisation. Working on real client matters strengthened my ability to collaborate effectively and work to deadlines. Overall, the scheme provided invaluable hands-on experience.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture at Dentons was friendly, collaborative, and supportive. I felt encouraged to ask questions and engage with colleagues at all levels. Despite the high standards of work, there was a genuine focus on development and well-being, with regular opportunities for feedback and learning.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
The scheme provided an excellent insight into the breadth of practice areas at Dentons and the day-to-day work of a commercial lawyer. Through a combination of structured tasks, lunch and learns, client exposure, and conversations with individuals at all levels, from trainees to partners, I developed a better understanding of Dentons position in the legal market and the range of services it offers clients. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to real matters and network with people across the firm, which truly highlighted Dentons friendly and supportive culture.

My advice for anyone applying to Dentons would be to be yourself. The firm values authenticity and looks for candidates who bring their unique and experiences to the table. Focus on highlighting your own strengths, motivations, and what genuinely excites you about the legal profession and Dentons. Dentons wants to get to know the real you, so demonstrate your enthusiasm in your application and interviews. Also research the firm and its culture. Understanding Dentons’ global presence, its diverse practice areas, and its values will help you align your application and interviews with what the firm is looking for.
