Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
On a day-to-day basis, I was getting involved in real work for real clients. My understanding of what it meant to be a commercial lawyer improved as I was able to get first-hand experience of what working in a commercial law firm felt like. Outside of working, we had many learning sessions to improve our understanding of the Firm as well as opportunities to network with others at the Firm.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very interesting! Understanding the wider business and how law firms must generate profit was very valuable. Seeing how this was done in practice through business development sessions was even more rewarding.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I believe I improved my networking/people skills. By having to speak to many different people, I was able to throw myself out there a little bit more.
I also think I improved my organisational skills. Around a tightly packed schedule, we often received work from numerous people in the team. Being organised was very important.
Finally, I think I improved my attention to detail by always checking and double checking my work.
