Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

On the first day, we attended welcome sessions with the Dentons team, which was followed by a virtual social to help us get to know others on the vacation scheme. Throughout the scheme, I was placed in two different teams and was given really interesting tasks to complete throughout the day. There was regular coffees scheduled with my mentor and buddies to ensure I was getting on okay. We also had lunchtime webinars scheduled throughout.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

I was given a great insight into life at Dentons and the progression possible from trainee to partner.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Definitely - I developed my drafting skills in the various tasks I was assigned and improved my time management skills working to tight deadlines. The group exercise also helped me to to develop my team-working skills, especially in the current virtual environment.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Every member of the Dentons team made me feel extremely welcome during the scheme. I felt valued and included during my time at Dentons. The culture at Dentons is inclusive and collaborative, I was so pleased to get a feel for this even virtually.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

Overall, I had an excellent vacation scheme with Dentons – I feel that I learned a lot and got to get a real insight into life as a trainee at Dentons. I am really grateful for all of the opportunities I had during the scheme. I gained a lot of insight into the training contract from the TC webinar and learned so much about Dentons during the scheme.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dentons LLP

I would definitely recommend everyone interested in working at an international commercial law firm to apply to Dentons. Do lots of research on the firm and attend all the insight days/webinars they host to get a feel if the firm is right for you. I felt really supported through the full application process so would recommend others to network and reach out to members of the Dentons team and ask lots of questions.
