Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

The vacation scheme consisted of two week-long placements in different departments of the firm. These were Corporate Crime and Investigations and Real Estate Finance.
My day to day consisted of managing tasks allocated by supervisor, while meeting people in department, attending presentations, and taking part in events with other vacation schemers.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was very useful to get a realistic view of what it would be like to work in the firm. This involved getting a sense of the culture of HSF and realising I am well suited.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have developed my attention to detail. As a career changer in a managerial role, I have had less need to pay attention to minutiae or consistency in writing/formatting. But I understand the importance of this as a junior lawyer, and relished in the opportunity to improve this skill.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture at HSF is wonderful. He people are exceptionally bright and thoughtful and authentic in their interactions. This fosters an atmosphere of collaborative working.
