Vacation Schemer Review

My tasks included research on company law and court rules, Companies House searches, as well as drafting memos, letters and board minutes. I analysed Articles of Association and visited the Royal Courts of Justice. I attended enriching sessions covering Dentons' pro bono work and diversity networks. The Partner Counsel breakfast offered valuable insights. Networking opportunities with my cohort and colleagues from various teams were abundant, enhancing my learning, vacation scheme experience and understanding of Dentons.

Through coffee chats with colleagues across various teams and seniority levels, I gained insights into Dentons' practice areas and business development. I attended enriching Lunch & Learns, covering Dentons' pro bono work and diversity networks. I learnt about Dentons' initiatives in the sphere of ESG (Responsible Business) and technology, enhancing my understanding of the firm. I received a detailed overview of the traineeship programme, including its timeline, secondment opportunities, seats and the support provided to trainees.

During my time at Dentons, I learnt new contentious skills (e.g. case law research approaches) crucial for effectively handling litigation processes. My attention to detail improved significantly, ensuring precision in drafting documents and research. I developed a structured approach to organising and presenting legal research. I learnt about the importance of networking as a lawyer, opening new opportunities and fostering team bonding. I enhanced my proactiveness, realising the value of curiosity and initiative.

The company culture at Dentons is friendly, collaborative, innovative, inclusive and dynamic. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported, particularly by my approachable buddy. My supervisor took the time to helpfully explain tasks. I enjoyed the networking opportunities to engage with different teams. The people here are really passionate about their diversity networks, pro bono and tech initiatives, inspiring me to also participate and give back to the firm and the community.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Dentons. I found the scheme to be eye-opening, immersive and enriching. The people were so approachable and willing to share their perspectives and journeys.
