Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I had the opportunity to gain an insight into the firm by meeting partners, lawyers and trainees and asking them questions about their roles and motivations for joining the firm. I learnt about the different networks and practice areas through presentations held by respective lawyers I also had valuable tips and information for succeeding in applications, assessment centres and interviews, which was useful.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I had learnt about the application process and was provided thorough detail and key tips for succeeding. The different pathways and experiences heard by different lawyers in the firm was important and useful.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I had developed my skills of working in a team by working on a case study and holding a presentation which was timed. This also enhanced my time management and organisation skills as well as tailoring my communication to suit the task. I had also learnt the importance of resilience and work ethic when becoming a trainee due to the unpredictable and challenging work that may be presented.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was welcoming and held a ‘people first’ approach, outlining how friendly colleagues are and that there was no hierarchy in terms of connections within the firm. Also, all the speakers competent in what they were discussing and answered questions well which was useful.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience as it gave me an understanding of the firm beyond the website and procures as I was able to view the culture and people in person. I was able to learn lots more about the practice of law as well as visualise a day in a working life.
