Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

Really interesting and varied scheme! The first day was an introduction from several people at the firm including the Training Principle and the CEO. Day 2 and 3 were in practice areas where we were given tasks. Day 4 was a group assessment where we had 3 hours to prepare before presenting to 3 members of staff.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

Everyone was really helpful and keen to chat about what they did at Dentons which helped to understand what a role at Dentons in various different teams looks like. We also had various talks which helped us understand how the business operates and what approaches they take to training and keeping staff engaged

I developed my team working skills during the group assessment, my communication skills when communicating with my buddy and supervisor, my attention to detail when reviewing contacts and my ability to use my initiative when doing the tasks we were set

Everyone was really friendly and welcoming. It was a very inclusive and supportive environment and everyone was happy to help or answer any questions we had

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I really enjoyed the insight, especially getting to sit in 2 practice areas. It was great getting to chat to the different people at Dentons and hear about their jobs day to day. I also enjoyed the tasks, they were challenging but everyone was happy to help with any questions.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dentons LLP

There are a lot of stages in the recruitment process but don’t be put off as it was worth it for the scheme which was great. HR are lovely and help you to feel comfortable throughout the process. Try have examples from different aspects of your life for the interview questions to show that you are a well rounded person and not just academic!
