Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The overall programme was on investment baking at Jefferies and what it was like to be a banker. On the first day we had panel discussions from analysts and talks from different grouos within the organisation. On the second day we had an introduction into different products and groups involved in investment abking and then case studies to learn more about them. On the third day we had an IPO simulation where we pitched in teams a company and performed financial analysis to come to a valuation of it. On the fourth day we had an interview with a banker where we were able to ask about their career and advice on breaking into the industry.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was incredibly interesting. I already had a small idea on some of the different roles that the firm offered but to be able to do case studies on them and to understand more about them was incredibly insightful. Furthermore, the ability to talk and get advice from people that work in the industry gave a new perspective. After the week I have decided that investment banking is an area that I would like to pursue.

Would you recommend Jefferies International to a friend?
Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Jefferies International
I think Jefferies is a company that it is incredibly important to be yourself and therefore show your best self in the interviews. It is obviously a technical role so you should be prepared with technicals but the most important thing is to research the company well and be particularly passionate about the industry, therefore having lots of questions.
