Trade Marketing Analyst Review

As an analyst for Dettol, i would analyse and view performance metrics not just for Dettol, but for it's rival brands. This would include breaking down these numbers by retailer, for example Dettol wipes in Asda vs How the wipes category is performing in Asda. My findings would then be outlined and presented back to senior employees, identifying how Dettol is performing in the latest time metrics. I also had monthly and weekly tasks, including a P&L refresh for the latest actuals vs forecast.

I was given the responsibility of a leading on an Allocations process, where I would reguarly communicate with supply planners about what stock we have remaining in the warehouse, and i would then use a fair share tool to calculate which retailer I allocate the most remaining stock to. Whilst this process was important, i also had the help of my team. I also had the responsibility of refreshing and sending out a monthly P&L file for wider teams to use. However, i'd say throughout the placement, im given some responsibilities but not a massive amount where it feels overwhelming,

My Excel skills have improved significantly during this placement, as the role involved becoming familar with many different excel functions. I also gained vast experience in pulling data from various external softwares, such as Nielsen, Kantar and Dunnhumby. Furthermore, my soft skills improved significantly in the workplace, such as behavioural traits and how to communicate and listen to employees when working with them in the office.

I received a normal amount of support and guidance, however it was more about finding the right people in the company who were more happy to help and support you than others. This is not to say thay my line manager/team wouldn't help me, because they certainly would. However, i wouldn't want to always go to them, so for me it was about building my wider network and receiving support from people who you know have your best interests at heart.

Company culture is great at Reckitt. Many companies now show off the fact that at their workplace you can come to work as yourself and you can let your true personality shine. However at Reckitt it is also certainly true, which explains why they market this as one of their company strengths. However, I do believe that in order to progress in your career at Reckitt, you have to have a certain personality, which i would say usually favours naturally extroverted individuals. However this is also the same in a lot of companies, but it is starting to shift, however it's still definitely the case.

I very much enjoyed my placement experience. As Reckitt is somewhat a large organisation, especially relative to other companies, i believe you have 2 different experiences on a placement if you work for a smaller sized company vs a multinational corporation. One isn't better than the other, i just believe you gain different skills and experiences. At Reckitt, part of the enjoyment/experience for me was how large the company is.

Yes
