Summer Engineering Intern Review

My role consisted of learning about various teams in my department involving Electronic Defence within BAE Systems. Carrying out testing on a hardware system and also training on software system. As well as conducting a report to download software and test for hardware.

I was given the opportunity to work on various tasks during my internship, such as writing documents and assisting with testing procedures. While I did not have a significant amount of responsibility in terms of managing projects or leading a team, I was able to contribute to the overall success of the team by completing tasks assigned to me and supporting my colleagues in their work.

Technical Skills: gaining hands on experience with engineering tools, including hardware, software and testing equipment.
Problem-solving skills: how to identify a problem through engineering projects and come up with creative solutions and implementing the solutions effectively
Communication Skills: working in a team environment, improving ability to communicate with colleagues and clients, which may involve presenting my work, collaborating on projects and providing updates.
Professionalism: working in a professional workplace will help develop punctuality, teamwork skills and respect for company policies and procedures

Within my team I was limited to certain access due to security clearance but this did not stop me from wanting to learn about the department/company. With the help from my line manager and others in the department I was able to carry out tasks and assist on projects. As for the graduate team, they also helped me discover what BAE has to offer and assisted on giving me information to other areas of interest.

I had a fantastic experience at BAE Systems in terms of company culture and the general atmosphere. The office environment was very welcoming and inclusive, and I found the people to be incredibly friendly an supportive. Everyone I interacted with, from my colleagues to the management team, was approachable and willing to help. There was a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, which made it a pleasure to work there. The company prioritized employee well-being and professional development, providing opportunities for growth and learning. Overall a great, positive company culture and atmosphere ay BAE Systems, making my experience truly enjoyable and rewarding

I truly enjoyed my internship experience to great extent. From the challenging projects I worked on to the supportive colleagues and positive company culture, every aspect of the internship contributed. I found the work engaging and fulfilling, and I appreciated the opportunities for learning and growth that were provided to me. The involvement I received from my team greatly enhanced my experience and made me feel like a valued member. I am grateful for the opportunity and the knowledge & skills I have gained during my time at BAE Systems
