Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was an electronics design intern for the R&D department. This involved an assigned project with all of my time being spent in the lab. Most days I was free to pursue the project as I saw fit, with help being available whenever I needed it.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given responsibility over my entire project and its outcome. The outcome of my project will have lasting effects on the products developed by Siemens. I was also responsible for keeping myself safe within the lab, as I was working with equipment which could be dangerous if mishandled.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I attained extensive experience with surface mount soldering under a microscope. My circuit analysis skills were also greatly improved. My knowledge of how large corporate businesses function was greatly expanded. My ability to discuss, assess and critically think about the validity of concepts, issues and proposed solutions was massively increased.

Support and guidance was given whenever I needed it from multiple different people. Everyone I asked was more than happy to help out or provide explanations wherever needed.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture within the team I was under was quite casual, relaxed friendly. I was never put under any unnecessary stress or micromanaged. From what I saw the same can be said for my colleagues.
