Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Split between spending 2 days in analytics and 3 days in sales. In Analytics you learn about the BBG terminal and all the asset classes on a fundamental level, training received by a range of BBG employees. Learn about customers, the helpdesk to solve their queries as well as being assigned two group projects. In Sales, you are assigned a Sales team, learn how to interact with clients, find their interests and challenges, book and shadow client meetings and work in 2 group projects.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Within Analytics, we were given a platform to shadow and contact multiple people within different departments. Provided with the opportunity to interact with clients in-person, and lead some training sessions. Tasked with presenting on 4 different group projects, with a lot of responsibility for reaching out to people to collaborate, as well as using our time-management skills to devise plans and deadlines accordingly.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Developed my communicational skills, reaching out to multiple people within different departments. Developed my leadership skills, presenting on various projects and leading in different scenarios for specific tasks we are faced with. Enhanced my problem solving skills, adapting to customers needs and requirements from the BBG terminal whilst staying level-headed and focused, maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Incredible amount of support throughout the internship. Had designated line managers and mentors in both sales and analytics as well as an intern connector outside of your own department. Incredibly inclusive culture at BBG meant that you could go up to anyone and speak to them and learn more about their role within BBG.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amazing company culture, everyone is so welcoming and open to chat, regardless of their status and experience at BBG. Very diverse and inclusive office within the EMEA HQ especially, have met some amazing people not only from the internship cohort but on a wider scale across the business.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Best internship I have ever experienced, constantly learning about new things, unpredictable and enjoyable days, extremely well coordinated internship, with amazing opportunities to branch out and learn more about the wider business. The experience, the people and the work here is extremely meaningful and rewarding.

Would definitely recommend applying to BBG. If you feel like your suited to a dynamic and fast paced environment, enjoy conversing with people and learning then this is the place for you. A lot of opportunity to learn and explore departments within the BBG, never confined to a single role where every day is different and exciting.
