Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

The role involves a mix of desk and HR assigned projects and tasks, and shadowing, initiated independently.
A typical day involves working on several different projects, shadowing in between to learn more about aspects of the business when free. Many of these projects involve liasing and presenting to staff in other parts of the business.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Given this was rotational, I was given limited responsibility. This is quite standard for the industry, given that you can’t really do much without the relevant trading/sales licenses.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Have improved my VBA and Python skills. Have gotten better at putting together trade ideas, and valuation of a variety of fixed income products in general. Overall, more confident in ability to perform relevant markets roles(e.g Trading)

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

A fair amount, but a lot of the support and guidance involved being proactive in setting up meetings and opportunities to learn and get more guidance.
