Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Completing client work set by junior members of the team in various business areas, attending training sessions to learn about concepts within investment/actuarial work, and completing student exercises set such as presentations or letter writing exercises.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was surprised a the amount of responsibility I was given within my internship. I got to complete lots of client work and was also given the opportunity to sit in on multiple client meetings which I found very interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills throughout my internship. I have learn lots of skills through the use of excel and other analytical work as well as improving professional communication skills through writing letter for members or attending meetings. I have also participated in many social events with the office and have really enjoyed building good relationships with people in my team.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I was given lots of support throughout my internship. The team were always happy to help if I ever I had an issue with any work I was completing and always tried to explain things in a way I could understand. We also had many training sessions which guided us through our internship.

The general atmosphere within the office was extremely friendly with everyone been polite and supportive the whole time I was in the office.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed my internship a lot and would definitely recommend anyone to consider applying in future. They were extremely supportive and cared a lot about your development.
