Summer Scheme Student Review

For the duration of the Summer Scheme, I was placed in the Recoveries and Receiverships team. This included the management and administration of properties going into receivership, collating information about the property and supporting the team in preparing reports and documents. The role offers a broad and dynamic experience within the property industry, involving a mix of learning and practical work. I also engaged in a wide range of activities, from attending industry overviews to conducting site inspections across the country.

During my internship, I felt my contributions to the team were meaningful. I was allocated enough work to remain busy each day, but I wasn't overloaded. I was also largely supported through any independent work and was able to ask questions with anything I wasn't sure about. I was able to attend site visits, meet clients and produce property overviews to be shared with the bank.

In this role, I have both learned new skills and developed existing ones. I have acquired practical experience managing properties and understanding the legal and financial aspects of recoveries. I have also developed the ability to work closely with diverse stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and problem solving.
Also, I learned about market trends, regulations, and challenges in the property industry through attending industry overviews and training sessions.
Also, during my internship, I learned how to use different software and platforms tailored for the property industry.

During my internship, I received a huge amount of the support and spent the majority of my internship shadowing a current graduate. The entire team were welcoming and made it clear to ask questions at any point! They were all very understanding and patient, they just wanted me to get the most out of my time in the business!

The office culture was brilliant, and I found every one to be very welcoming. Even on my first day, people would make the effort to introduce themselves to me or start a conversation in the kitchens. It was a very sociable environment with good opportunities to talk with people from other departments. I also noted a large emphasis on Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and attended talks through my time at Savills.

I absolutely loved my internship at Savills and it was the perfect professional experience to shape my future career in the property industry. I would definitely recommend the program to anyone considering a future career in property.
