Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Procurement is extremely varied so the role for each procurement intern is different. My day-to-day role mainly involved contract management and shadowing a tender through which I then did a project that contributed to strategic insights.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I believe I was given the perfect amount of responsibility for a summer internship. I had support from my team with space to work independently on the projects I was given.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

It's very valuable to be in a corporate environment learn about how it works. My main takeaways were relationship networking and the dynamics with suppliers and in an office environment. Other key skills were organisation, analytical skills and time management.

I really enjoyed the company culture. Everyone was extremely friendly and supportive which I was very presently surprised by.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed it, a great experience. I learnt so much about what I am interested in pursuing and future as well as doing interesting work and building meaningful connections. It was a very valuable experience.
