Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
A lot of the role involved stakeholder management, getting information from others in the business as part of my projects. Day to day I would have meetings (virtual and in-person), work on a variety of projects, and put together slide decks.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given an appropriate amount of responsibility for my level of experience and knowledge of the business, including the energy industry. This varied between projects but I always felt supported by my manager and team. And I felt pushed towards more responsibilities where possible within the projects I was working on.

I've learnt stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skills throughout my time at Centrica as an intern. I developed my networking skills previously engaged throughout my degree.

I received a good level of support and guidance from my immediate team during the internship, and I also felt this from the emerging talent team throughout my time.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was positive, engaging, and welcoming. I felt put at ease from the very first day and everyone across the business is always happy to help and have a chat. I did find working remotely however affected this aspect as there is nothing quite like being in person and I enjoy the social side of the corporate world.

What advice would you give to others applying to Centrica
Just go for it, there is so many learning opportunities here at Centrica. From upskilling online learning sessions to in person training sessions, all alongside the day job. An internship is a great way to dip your toe into the corporate world and Centrica is a welcoming and supportive place to do this.
