Customer Engagement Communications Assistant Review

On a day-to-day basis my duties changed however my core responsibilities and tasks remained the same. I spent my days networking with senior leaders and colleagues within and outside of my direct team. I also completed competitor analysis using larger British corporations that did not only exist within the energy sector like those including British Airways to evaluate how our comms compare to those that already exist with loyal UK customer bases. I spent time writing my own briefs and examples of copy, one of a letter that was based upon our customer newsletter but written for our non consent customers and another was an example of a blog post with behavioural science applied to evaluate the impact.

I was given the responsibility of working independently throughout this internship in a hybrid working style which added responsibility onto my tasks I feel as I wasn't surrounded by my team to ask questions in person.
I was also provided with tasks that were my sole responsibility whether that be a competitor analysis or attending our external agencies, these made me feel trusted and allowed me to complete my own project, seeking feedback and guidance but completing it on my own.

I have developed my presenting and networking skills to a standard that I believe will provide me with a solid foundation when embarking on my post graduate ventures.
I have learnt how to communicate more successfully with senior members of departments and teams which made me feel more comfortable within my role here at Centrica. I have also learnt that I have a genuine interest in the energy sector and Centrica's mission to reach Net Zero by 2050 to help to energise a greener, fairer, future.

I received immense support and guidance, we had the emerging talent team, intern talent managers, buddies and our line managers as well as our teams rooting for us and lending us a hand with queries, opportunities and networking over the course of the placement.

The general atmosphere was incredible - I don't think I have ever been in a workplace where so many people actually loved where they work.

I loved my internship - I am genuinely sad to leave. I have had so many opportunities to enhance my personal and professional development. I have met some of the most incredible and hardworking individuals and would love an opportunity to return to Centrica in the future.

Yes
