Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I worked on a few different projects to help the business unit's better inform the rest of the business on their activity. This involved meetings with different people, using excel a lot and some market research.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
my responsibility changed over the internship dependent on the tasks I was working on. I didn't always have tasks to work on however once I did, I was left to run the task independently with support if I needed it.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I developed my technical skills on excel and other online platforms. I have also developed my professional communication skills through being in office most days and navigating the professional yet friendly relationships. I have also continued to develop my strategic thinking to help make decisions on the suppliers we should be working with

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
My manager was incredibly supportive if I asked for help, and we had a conversation in the beginning about how I work best and that I would like to work independently first on a problem. I think we could have received more stream specific guidance within the first week to help us learn the stream specific skills quicker e.g. the different applications we were using in procurement took a while for us to be introduced to.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very supportive. procurement is a very close whole team and everyone was happy to help. the wider atmosphere was nice, but sometimes felt like we were seen as the interns that had been released into the office rather than colleagues.

What advice would you give to others applying to Centrica
Be aware that everyone is busy and it is up to you to make sure your experience is what you need it to be. Not everyone is going to be there to give you opportunities so you need to be happy to ask for work or meetings if your not learning what you wanted to.
