Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We had lots of talks about various elements of life at Bloomberg, from an introduction to the terminal to different roles and expectations to Bloomberg philanthropy and media. We spent a lot of time networking and talking to different people who had spent a significant amount of time at Bloomberg to gain an oversight into various opportunities in the company.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Extremely interesting - Bloomberg is a very large organisation and it was fascinating hearing about all of the various opportunities and roles. In particular, I love how adaptable the company is - there is always opportunity to explore different roles and gain further training, testimony to the impressive employee retention of the company.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
A lot of time was spent helping us prepare for interviews, which I really appreciated as it helped build my confidence (as did the various networking opportunities). Furthermore, the introduction to the terminal further developed my FinTech knowledge and helped me prepare for multitasking.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Lovely - everyone was always happy to talk to us and give us their insight. Everyone offered their LinkedIn profile to have another opportunity to talk to them one-on-one and further ask questions about their role. There were lots of networking opportunities to talk to people of more senior levels who were again very helpful, considerate and informative.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really loved it - it is a fantastic company with great opportunities. I loved the culture of the company and how everyone was friendly and approachable. I love the training that this company offers and felt as if this insight was enough to gain a new understanding into the company.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg
You do not have to have a finance background for this role but you do have to show interest in learning and willing to learn new things. Realise the importance of transferable skills - any previous work will be useful to show how you interact with clients on a daily basis.
