Summer Scheme Student Review

I have shadowed some graduates and directors throughout my time. On site visits, I have used an app to carry out property inspections. In the office, I have taken on tasks including updating licencing letters, mapping on land app, working on land and property comparable tables, including ringing up estate agents daily and completing inspection forms for properties.

I was given the responsibility of using the inspection app throughout all of the inspections which involved taking photos of all the rooms in the property as well as identifying any issues and hazards. I was given lots of responsibility making phone calls and dealing with clients as well as trust in completing my given task.

I have learnt a lot more about valuations for both land and properties and the current market value as well as the use of new software. I have developed my time management skills being on time for work everyday as well as managing my work load and schedule. I have continued to engage with tenants and landlords, improving my communication skills in a professional manner.

I was guided really well throughout my internship including being given a task to work on, taught how to carry out the work and check ins from my mentors to enable me to fully understand and be able to engage with my task. I was supported brilliantly when learning new software, but was also given the opportunity to work things out for myself, which enhanced my learning.

The company culture has been a great atmosphere to work in for the month. Everyone has offered to help and give me work or guidance in different tasks as well as colleagues showing me the areas that they work in and their everyday tasks. Everyone has been very welcoming throughout my time here and have included me in social events within the office.

I really enjoyed my internship. It has given me a great insight into the everyday life of working in an office but also the tasks that I would be carrying out if I was to work in a similar company after University. The personnel in the office are all friendly and have made working here very enjoyable as well as giving me good tasks and guidance throughout. I have had the opportunity to go on lots of site visits which has been enjoyable and I have enjoyed the practical aspect of this.
