Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
For my placement I sit within the Development Consultancy team. Day-to-day I assist with a variety of tasks for the whole team including: gathering comparable evidence, assisting with Viability assessments and GDV reports, first attempts at report writing with feedback, site visits and attending meetings. The Savills graduate team also provide very informative and helpful developmental overviews where you get an insight to each department and get to network with other Savills employees. They also cover information on the APC and other helpful tips for graduate applications. Within my placement I was also lucky enough to gain some experience with other departments such as Property management and Commercial Agency where I seen what they do day-to-day and got to go on sight visits with them.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
On the whole, i think i was given lots of responsibility such as working on live jobs. However, at any point if you needed help or support, or just needed to ask a question any member of the team was really happy to help and answer any query.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
During my time at Savills I have learned a variety of new skills such as how to use different software's commonly used in the industry, industry terminology, how to write a professional report and the best ways to analyse and research the market. The summer scheme helped me develop my networking, communication and critical thinking skills.

The guidance and support throughout the whole placement has been great, from graduates all the way to directors everyone wanted you to feel welcome and part of the team.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
On the whole i would say the company culture and general atmosphere was very welcoming, fun, but also driven and professional. Everyone is really friendly and all departments are there to help each other. There is a great network of graduates at Savills which i found really comforting and helpful coming into a new working environment.

What advice would you give to others applying to Savills
Be yourself, network with as many employees as possible as they are all there to help, for my department I think it would have been helpful if I had of researched the different areas and neighborhoods of Manchester before joining the team so I had a better insight of where about different locations were situated in comparison to the city center. However, it is not necessary and I have learned as I have gone.
