Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

Over the 2-week vacation scheme, I was sat into two different practice areas where I got insight into ongoing matters, got involved in meetings and was given trainee-level tasks to complete. Alongside this, there were lunch & learn sessions where we learnt about different initiatives at the firm. There were also social events organised that we attended.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

We were given a lot of information about the business and the training contract through the lunch & learn sessions and were also encouraged to speak to members of different practice groups, which furthered my understanding of the training and the firm.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I prepared a research note on the interpretation of legislation and provided advise on how this would apply to a cease & desist letter in a trade mark infringement case. This helped me to develop my interpretation and writing skills in the context of providing advice to a client.

I really enjoyed the vacation scheme; it allowed me to truly experience the culture, learn about different practice areas and meet new people from various walks of life.
