Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involves valuing affordable housing of all tenures by using online tools to compare these properties to similar properties in a close proximity to determine a vacant possession value and monthly rent value. These figures are then put into discounted cash flow models that compute the data which is included in client reports. I also create graphs which show the change in property price and sum of sales volumes after the last ten years for the relevant local authorities. All in all, it is a lot of excel spreadsheets!
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship. I was given important loan security valuation work for banks and registered providers, and contributed to real client reports which bring in fees of multiple thousands of pounds. My biggest responsibility was valuing a large portfolio of shared ownership housing stock for one of the biggest transfers of that tenure in UK history.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received so much support and guidance during my internship. The graduate team were extremely helpful in organising events and networking lunches. My team specifically were so welcoming, and everyone was happy to show me the ropes if I was unsure on something. Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture was very professional and client-centric, and is a place that places lots of importance on teamwork and a diverse group of thinkers. Savills also supports learning and development in more junior staff, and they are committed to diversity and inclusion. For me personally, I was given many opportunities to connect with colleagues outside of work, and there was a strong emphasis on social networking.
