Summer Scheme Student Review

Development consultancy - I was involved in pricing units in new home schemes across London. I attended site visits to inspect buildings. I collected comparable evidence to aid pricing of the schemes. There were ample opportunities to engage with industry professionals across the business to expand our professional networks. There were departmental overviews almost daily in which directors and graduates shared insight into their daily jobs and how they have progressed through the company these zooms helped us make future career decisions.

The most positive takeaway from the month was the fact that the team almost instantly trusted me to take on responsibility within the team. For this reason I was not left doing pointless tasks to keep me busy. I felt that every piece of work that I did was contributing significantly to the overall team workload. This motivated me to make sure i produced the best quality work and as a result took away much more from the work experience.

I have developed existing skills from my degree as a cognate student. I built on my valuations skills and I also employed my prior knowledge of development appraisals. This was beneficial as it allowed me to seamlessly put theory into practice and as a result my university work made a lot more sense. I learnt about the process of land acquisition and land disposal from the land team. This is a very complex process however the
land team explained it very well and i have left confident in my knowledge.

I was given constant support during the process by my mentor and the wider team. Whenever I had a question they were supportive which made me more confident throughout the month. Whenever i was set a task i was given a full explanation beforehand and always invited to ask questions

The culture was brilliant, the teams do lots together during and outside of work

I had a brilliant time and i am keen to return to Savills as a graduate
