Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My internship was based in the Planning department. Tasks range from drafting planning statements, writing appraisals and researching sites and also checking if specific sites require planning permission. I have further been involved in Planning projects throughout the month. Day to day tasks therefore involve research, but additionally attending internal meetings with the team or external meetings with clients.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I would say I was trusted to complete tasks, but not given full responsibility due to my experience.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes! I commenced the Internship with no prior or in depth knowledge about Planning. Having attended the Scheme, I now have an in depth insight into how the Planning sector functions and key terminology. Also, I have learnt about the various Planning policies in detail, from governmental to local levels. The main skill I have advanced is my ability to manage time, learning to prioritise certain tasks that have time restrictions over the less important tasks.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The support throughout my internship has been amazing - I could constantly ask my mentor questions as well as other members in the Team about specific tasks I was doing or broader questions related to Planning.
