Summer Scheme Student Review

I was a rotational summer scheme student and I was in a new department each week. The tasks are quite similar across all the departments which I still found to be interesting.
I would do things like reading leases, building surveying reports and planning applications. I would also update tenancy and mid box schedules. I would also create key comps tables for similar properties with similar specs and in the local vicinity.

I had ownership of doing certain parts of a project due to lack of access to systems. But those parts were for me to do. I was also given the opportunity to create some content for the Savills instagrad Instagram page with another summer scheme student in another office.

I have learned a lot about the roles and what kind of things projects or tasks they work on. I also have develop my researching skills, which is paramount for compiling comps.

There was a lot of support from everyone around me. You can always drop someone an email or a quick teams message and they respond promptly.

Everyone is really nice and friendly in the office. You are always likely to get on with your team as you work with them closely, but even around the office everyone is nice to get on with and you can always go for coffee chats if you want to get to know someone and understand their role more.

I really enjoyed my placement as I was doing it on rotation across what was meant to be with 4 teams but turned into 6. I got a really good insight into what the different teams do and work on tasks that relate to that. But my knowledge was also consolidated through the department talks that the graduate team hosted.

Yes
