Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I work on different projects related to hair conditioners that are aligned with Unilever's goals. I work in different labs and various measurement techniques that are used to test new hair conditioner formulations.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was responsible for developing my own project and allowed to investigate problems and interesting ideas on my own accord. I was helped through the way, however, my projects have been conducted mostly by myself.

I was given enough guidance through my placement. My project manager understood that I didn't need as much guidance as I was confident enough to tackle problems myself and he was always happy to help when I needed it.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was very welcoming and relaxed. everyone was happy to help each other and there was also a large group of placement students and so that was good company.

i found my placement very fun and rewarding, the people were helpful, my boss was understanding with problems I had, and opportunities were made so i could present my findings to the head of the team

What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
Be open to working on many different projects and Unilever has a lot of different product lines that can be worked on. Be open about your problems as line managers are there to help. be sure to voice your opinion as it as valuable as anyone else.
