Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As a summer intern at the Business Space Property Management I was involved in various site visits including the properties that the team is responsible for. I was also able to help with daily tasks such as working on leases and service charge budget reports. The overall experience allowed me to learn more about different departments within the real estate business.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I think i was given a perfect amount of responsibilities. My team and my mentor were able to give me various tasks that allowed me to gain an understanding of property management.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

By being involved in various meetings and being able to network I developed my communication skills. Moreover, being given a lot of responsibilities and independence over the assigned tasks I gained organisation skills and improved my leadership skills.

My mentor and all members of the team were always very helpful, they guided me and supported me throughout my internship. They were always open to answer any of my question and help with any concerns that I had.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture and the atmosphere is very welcoming and respectful. The team involved me in as many of the events and meetings as they could. Overall, I was able to feel like a member of the team throughout my internship.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have enjoyed my internship a lot and would love to comeback to Savills and gain even more experience. I have developed my professional skills and gained an understanding of the real estate business and the culture of Savills as well as I improved my personal skills and developed my soft skills. I really enjoyed the social aspect of my internship as well, being able to network with a lot of people from various backgrounds.
