Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Role involves working on 2 projects on a structured basis however it is also based on equipment availability. A lot of lab and pilot plant work and undertaking many types of analyses.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Given a lot of responsibility with guiding independent projects. Had to also take responsibility on managing some safety documentation.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Skills that I have learnt is surfactant chemistry, rheology and insights into how these effect product performance. Also developed understanding on safety as well as soft skills such as presenting and communication.

Got lots of support where it was needed however was also given some independence and responsibility. Lots of training and line managers always willing to answer questions.

Very safety driven and helpful culture. Not the most intensive environment but deadlines are still present.

Enjoyed working a lot and the people are really nice. Learnt lots about R&D and the FMCG industry in general.

What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
Great place to learn about processing in the FMCG industry. Be prepared to learn a lot but also have a chilled working environment. Make sure you know where you are going to work and whether this environment is for you as factory and R&D environments are vastly different.
