Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
On a rotational placement so there was different tasks and projects for each team however each placement involved bits of admin, meeting notes, project work, reformatting documents.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Only in one of my placement teams, I was involved in many tasks that were quite big and held a lot of responsibility. It was quite stressful at times because I was worried I would make a mistake which was quite likely as an Intern, however the rest of my teams were very easy and low responsibility.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
One of the only skills I've picked up that I think will be quite valuable is recruitment, being involved in the recruitment process has helped my interviewing skills as well as planning the layout of the centre has helped in understanding the whole recruitment process for different roles.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Quite a good amount, I was very lucky with my teams as every team was very good at helping if I needed. although one team my manager was so busy It was sometimes impossible to get time with them and ask for support, but they always helped when they were able to

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very corporate - the atmosphere in my office was good for two of my teams but one of the teams the atmosphere was quite bad, nobody liked the manager and there was a lot of tension within the team but I dont think that was reflective of the company as a whole.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Overall all it was okay. I don't think it was bad but for me personally it made me realise I wouldnt enjoy it as a career. One team that I was placed on was quite stressful and I was doing jobs that weren't really suitable for an intern as they had quite big responsibility. However the rest of the placement I found good - just boring. I did find that I didnt get a lot of recognition for the things I did well, I put a lot of effort into doing somethings and making myself known but there was rarely any recognition for it which was quite demotivating.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Airbus
Don't have many expectations because I've found many peoples internships/placements are quite different to what they expected, the same applies to future prospects within Airbus as many people expected a role after university but they cant always offer it.
