Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Role was to assess antibody stability using biophysical characterisation techniques in the lab as well as optimising workflows.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I had quite a lot of responsibility in supporting pipeline projects independently as well as presenting data to project teams.

I have managed to gain a lot of skills in the lab that I didn't have before starting my placement involving different techniques but also gained a number of soft skills including communication, adaptability and problem solving.

I had a huge amount of support from my supervisor and team that I was based in which helped me learn a lot quickly and be able to develop a lot more.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my placement as I wanted to learn more about what it is like working in industry in the science sector. I managed to do that and also learn a lot of things for career development and see what I want to do in the future.

What advice would you give to others applying to GSK

To make sure they choose the department they want to work in based on their interests and do more research about that. Make use of all the opportunities to ask questions and join as many of the community groups as possible.
